US GT Championship

The US GT Championship is focused on the faster GT sports cars made worldwide, and offers a true national championship accessible to amateur, club, regional, semi-pro and professional drivers alike.

Open to all high end and high horsepower GT styled sportscars, four simple power-to-weight based classes including the no-holds-barred GT-Unlimited class makes for close and safe multi-class racing.

To level the playing field, while keeping the level of performance high, cars are required to run on the spec Pirelli DH compound tire supplied by JX2 Performance Group. Tires are limited to one set per round to contain costs.

Typical cars include the Porsche GT3 Cup, Ferrari 458 Challenge, SRT (Dodge) Viper Competition Coupe, and the Corvette C6 Z06. However all cars competing in recognized international GT series, including FIA GT3, Porsche Cup, World Challenge and United SportsCar Championship, are eligible.

Furthermore silhouette, purpose built and tube frame cars specifically designed for series such as DTM, SuperGT, Trans-Am, and SCCA GT-1 meet this criteria, as do production, saloon or touring cars with adequate performance upgrades or engine swaps. It really is a case of ‘run what you brung’.

The likes of Kuno Wittmer, Jonathan Bomarito, Eric Curran and Tommy Archer have all driven in the US GT Championship, while the series has been the breeding ground for past, current and future stars.

Drivers such as Sonny Whelen, Ben Keating and Louis-Philippe Montour all learned their craft in the US GT Championship. This is the perfect series to hone your skills in the same cars and on the same tracks used by all of the professional series.

Competitors can contest a full blown 13 round National Championship held over 7 weekends, and/or stick within their region to claim a North or South Cup title decided on points from 3 of the specified Regional Cup weekends
