NARRA’s Viper Racing League Champion Ben Keating Wins the Inaugural Dodge Viper Cup Race at VIR
ALTON, Virginia (Sunday, July 11, 2010)

NARRA’s 2009 Viper Racing League Champion Ben Keating won the inaugural Dodge Viper Cup race. On what was a hot and steamy afternoon Dodge launched its Dodge Viper Cup race series in front of a record crowd at a NARRA Viper Days event. Keating started on the pole in his new Dodge Viper ACR-X and never looked back in the first of two races at the first Dodge Viper Cup weekend event, held at Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia, July 10-11, 2010.

In Saturday’s inaugural race Keating finished less than a second ahead of Jeff Courtney, who started next to him on the front row. Third place finisher Ryan Schimsk started last because of penalty imposed during a tech inspection and demonstrated an amazing effort to overtake the field and take his podium spot.

Schimsk took the Sunday pole and win with Keating finishing second only one second behind. Keith Verges finished third.
Fourteen competitors took to the grid in the new ACR-X Spec Vipers, introduced this year by Dodge. After the two-race weekend was completed Keating (135 points) assumed the series point lead followed by Schimsk (115 points) and Verges (83 points).
