Arrow Racing Engines Grand Prix of Pitt Race Preview


The North American Road Racing Association (NARRA) visits the recently expanded Pittsburgh International Race Complex (Pitt Race) this weekend July 31st - August 2nd for the Arrow Racing Engines Grand Prix. Rounds 9 and 10 of the USGT and Whelen Time Trial championship promises to be a hard fought race for the national titles and the conclusion of the Great Lakes Cup regional title.


In the wheel to wheel action of the USGT series, the GTU (unlimited) class has four of the top five position drivers ready to take on the new 2.8 miles of Pitt Race. The points leader, Tom Antonelli, in his All Chicago Fleet Dodge Viper #415 has been on the podium for six of generic levitra in india the eight rounds already run this season. Antonelli holds a nine point lead over the second place RH Motorsports #53 Dodge Viper of Mike Hartley. The GT1 leaderboard has Russ Oasis and his V.E.R.T. / PartsRack #98 Dodge Viper on top followed by the #49 Dodge Viper of Dave Moore. Each driver has had a win and multiple other podium level finishes this season. They have finished within one position of each other several times, and this weekend could be pivotal to Moore closing the www.aebm.org distance for the lead. GT3 has been all Zach Davis and his #28 Chevrolet Corvette this season. After his competition had to end the season early at VIR, Davis ran uncontested at Mid-Ohio. Despite being able to cruise to a win, Davis drove like the entire season was on the line. Davis, unable to attend the Pitt Race event, will no doubt be watching the results to see if an unknown GT3 competitor turns up.


The Whelen US Time Trial championship TTU leader, Brian Faessler in his Paul’s Automotive Engineering #11 Ford Mustang is eager to continue his winning ways and put some distance between himself and the second place driver Mansen Way. Mansen is working on a last minute thrash to repair an engine problem that also kept him out of http://thelifeunexpected.com/buy-cheapest-levitra the competition at Mid-Ohio.  If Mansen can’t make the www.sascha-kasper.com show, the #1 NASCAR of Leland Blanding could move into the third or even second place position overall.


The TT2 class leader Phil Grabow is working to get his Element Tuning Subaru STI ready for the weekend. With his closest competition sidelined for the remainder of the season, Grabow could extend his lead and essentially wrap up the national title if he is able to get his car to the race.


The surprise story in TT3 is that of Walter Bobko. With his #88 Ford Mustang Laguna Seca, Bobko could move into first place in the Great Lakes Cup and even the overall championship. He will be facing local competition from two different Corvette drivers who are more familiar with Pitt Race. Bobko joined NARRA for the first time at Mid-Ohio and it looks like he will be at two of the remaining three events.


The Arrow Racing Engines Grand Prix of Pitt Race could see several overall lead changes in the North American road Racing championship and tramadol discount the racing will be exciting as the drivers get used to the new parts of Pittsburgh International Race Complex. New Drivers and Great Racing at the FORGELINE Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio


The drivers in the North American Road Racing Association created their own fireworks during the FORGELINE Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio over the July 4th holiday weekend. Vipers, Mustangs, Corvettes, Aston Martins, and more were treated to sunny skies and good weather for taking on the 2.3 miles of turns and elevation changes of the legendary circuit.


Saturday’s USGT championship qualifying session started off a bit rough when the buy tramadol 180 #27 Le Bon Dodge Viper of L.P. The beautiful orange colored Supersport Mk II, in its North American racing debut, was very fast in the corners, but sacrificed some top end speed compared to the Vipers on the straights. At the checker, it was Oasis with the win, followed by Moore and Stanton. Victor Caldarelli was in control of GT2 from the start in his #93 Lintz Collision Dodge Viper. The #62 Aston Martin Vantage of Pirelli World Challenge driver Mark Klenin did not take the green flag. Caldarelli could have cruised to the win, but he ran as if Klenin was on his tail the entire time. In fact, Caldarelli’s times were within a few tenths of the faster GT1 class. Cladarellli considers Mid-Ohio his home track and the advantage certainly showed. 


The lone GT3 entry of the #28 Simgear.com Chevrolet Corvette of Zach Davis was in a similar situation to Caldarelli when his regular competition did not make it to the event. In the Whelen US Time Trial series there were several names new to the NARRA grid. Tony Calabrese, Dennis Rollinger, and Walter Bobko, all made the NARRA debut. The field was made up of a pair of Vipers, a pair of Mustangs, and a WRX STi.


Experienced drivers however, were the name of the game in TTU. Brian Faessler, this time in a different Paul’s Automotive Engineering Ford Mustang, squared off against former NARRA associate, Tom Drewer with the Team Forge Ahead Dodge Viper. At the end of Saturday’s competition, Faessler’s 1.27:783 proved faster than Drewer by just less than one half of a second with a 1.28:253


Tony Calabrese in his Pure Tuning Subrau STI took adavantage of his knowledge of the track and his all-wheel drive grip to take first place in TT1 with a 1:28.489. Allen Steig drove his Dodge Viper to second place with a 1:31.963 and Dennis Rollinger took third in his Dodge Viper with a 1:37.171. Walter Bobko found himself alone in TT3 so he comfortably took the class win with his Ford Mustang.


The arrival of Sunday meant a new day and another round of the USGT and USTT championships. Despite the setbacks faced by multiple drivers on Saturday, everyone was back in the game for the USGT race.


Montour, determined to make up for missing the drugstore big show on Saturday, decimated the field by posting a 1:23.550 putting himself on the pole for both GTU and the overall field. When the green flag dropped, Montour charged ahead to take the class win and the overall race victory. Hartley, finshing in second position was almost one minute behind at the finish. Stout would take the third place podium step in GTU, followed by Ray Sweers in his Positron Dodge Viper, Antonelli, and Faessler. It should be mentioned the effort put in by Faessler, competing in two different cars in the two different series over the weekend shows the passion and cialis levitra sales drive he has for motorsports.


GT1 was wintess to another fantastic race among the six cars in the class. Moore drove a beautiful race and would take the win in class followed closely by Oasis, less than one second behind. Scott Welham in the McCann Racing Dodge Viper #61 claimed the third and final podium spot. Steve Loudin in his Tricel Dodge Viper #007, Seth Palatnik driving his #33 Dodge Viper, and Craig Stanton would round out the field. Stanton mounted an early challenge and was initially leading the tramadol free shipping GT1 class. After pitting to check on a loose suspension component, the team leader decided to retire the car rather than take any chances. The 999 Motorsports Supersport was a great addition to the GT field and we hope to see more of them in the future NARRA races.


In GT2, Caldarelli and Klenin staged a great two car battle with each other. Ultimately Klenin would be the class winner, but Caldarelli showed he was game to take on the pro driver. After the race was over, Caldarelli was overheard saying how much fun the race was and how comparable the two cars were. The special note here is that Klenin was not on the spec Hoosier Racing Tire, so his race was not scored towards the championship point total.


Davis, once again uncontested in GT3, ran his Corvette at maximum pace for the duration of the race. Unfortunately, he had to park the car at the very end of the race and was not able to take the checkered flag.


The Whelen US Time Trial had yet another new competitor join the american viagra company field on Sunday as NARRA welcomed Marty Yockel and his #34 Ford Mustang in the TT2 class.

Yockel had a rough day sorting out some gremlins within the car and never recorded a lap at competition pace. We know he will be back when the series continues at Pittsburgh.
